Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
This policy explains what ASCENSION does with your data, in plain language. It is
written to be understood, not to cover ourselves: if anything here does not match what the
app does, that is our mistake and we want to hear about it.
What never leaves your phone
Starting here, because it is what people ask about most:
- The Journal. What you write at night, your mood and the photo of
the day stay on your phone. They are not uploaded to any server, not even ours. The
trade-off, which we also tell you inside the app: if you change phones, your Journal
does not come with you.
- Your answers to the initial questionnaire. What you answer about
habits, substance use, sleep, food, mood or gender stays on your phone. All that
reaches our servers is a numeric summary — the five axes of your profile and one word
for your archetype — which is the only thing the app needs to rebuild your plan if you
change phones.
- Anything you dictate by voice. It is transcribed on your own
device.
What we store
So that you do not lose your progress and have it on any phone:
- Your account: your email, or your Google or Apple sign-in. You
can use the app without an account; in that case there is only an anonymous
identifier.
- Your progress: the name you chose, your missions, XP, level,
streak, day history, settings, season and workouts.
- Your body measurements, if you ever record them.
- What you write to us through "send feedback".
Friends: what becomes public if you turn it on
If you use the Friends tab, a profile is published with your name, level, rank and
streak, along with the stamps you earn. That profile can be seen by any account that has
your invite code or finds you through a mutual friend — that is how the guest pass works.
It does not appear in any downloadable list. If you want none of this, do not use Friends:
the rest of the app works exactly the same.
Who we share with, and what each one receives
- Google Firebase (account and storage). Stores your account and
your progress. It acts on our behalf and does not use your data for its own
purposes.
- Mixpanel (analytics, servers in the European Union). Receives
what you do inside the app: when you open it, which screens you pass through and for
how long, which step of the questionnaire you stop at, whether you view or dismiss the
subscription screen, whether you buy, and your level and streak. Every event carries
your account identifier and, if you installed from one of our links, where you came
from. We use it to see where people drop off and fix it, and to know which creator
brought installs. It does not receive your name, your email, your
Journal, your photos or your measurements. From the initial questionnaire it only gets
these seven answers: how you heard about us, the family of area you chose, your career
stage, your study stage, how confident you feel, whether the plan looks short or long,
and the challenge you pick. No others, and any question we add in the future is private
by default.
- RevenueCat (subscriptions). Receives your identifier and what the
store tells it: what you bought, in which country, whether the subscription is still
active and whether it renewed or was cancelled. It exists so we can give you back your
premium when you change phones. We send it neither your name, nor your email, nor
anything from the questionnaire or the Journal.
- Sentry (crash reports, servers in the European Union). Receives
what it takes to fix a crash: your phone model, the OS and app version, where in the
code it broke and the last steps you took before it did. Your account identifier is
attached, so we can tell whether a bug hits one person or a thousand.
It does not receive your name, your email, your Journal, your photos
or your IP address: those are stripped from the report before it leaves the
phone, and if that stripping ever failed the report is not sent at all.
- App Store and Google Play handle the payments. We never see your
card.
We do not sell your data to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.
Outside this list, we share nothing with anyone.
Deleting your account
From Settings → Delete account. This deletes your account, your
progress, your history, your public profile, your stamps, your friendships and your
pending requests. It is irreversible and we cannot recover it afterwards.
So you know exactly what that button does NOT delete: Mixpanel keeps the
usage events described above, and RevenueCat and the store keep your
subscription history, because tax law requires it to be kept. If you want those gone too,
write to us and we will request it on your behalf.
If you no longer have the app installed, write to us and we will do it for you.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. If you delete it, it is gone. We keep backups on
private, access-restricted machines, and they rotate every 14 days, so a backup may outlive
your deletion by that long at most.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, for it to be corrected or deleted, or for a
copy to take with you. Write to us and we will sort it out. If you believe we have not
handled it properly, you can complain to your national data protection authority (in
Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).
